After that crap turn of events I had some satin black spray paint left over so decided to give the vac canister a clean up to make something look nice again and to win some kind of rust mind game and get some frustration out I suppose

Cleaned, sanded it and treated with rust converter/primer

It ll never be seen but dam it, it felt like a small victory at the time

On a further good note I sent my well worn original ignition distributor over to h&h ignition solutions near dudley.
They tested, refurbished and re curved it to e spec.
Looking forward to fitting it... Eventually

While stripping the chassis, the feed and return aluminium hardline pipes for the heater matrix were not looking the best. Alot of corrosion and pin holes.

I tried cleaning them up thinking they might be saveable but on closer inspection the aluminium corrosion was too deep in places.

So got some pipes made up which took a long while to find the right guy who could do it especially pipes that small.

But still have to figure out how to get a bead on the end for sealing the hose. Nobody over here has a machine with a small enough bead die tool to do it.
Looking into some alternative ways of making a bead, if anyone has an idea how??

For whats its worth it seems the pipes are near identical but have 2 different part numbers so are slightly different in shape .

The pipe itself is 5/8" or 15. 8mm od with an ID of 12.4-12.6mm - 16 gauge(1.6mm) aluminium.

Love it...… You can do a chassis out with your eyes closed now.

Not sure if you found something for the 5/8” pipes but I saw this kit on amazon that might help. Would do for brake pipes too?

You can create pipe beads in two ways. The way that's been done on your original pipes in your picture is the flaring method, where you only do half of stage 1 of doing an ordinary pipe flare. Tricky to get right, and takes practice. The other way is to use a pipe beading tool, like that which they've used to create the beads on the larger diameter coolant pipes on our cars. You can buy those tools all over, even through ebay. They're not cheap.

This is the "small stuff" that can take ages to sort

It gives me something to go on at least...
