I got the suspension arms galvanised aswell

While waiting on the chassis to come back got a chance to paint up the brake servo to make it a little more nicer.

The brake servo bracket was needing some repair and paint aswell. Got it a little more straight not perfect but alot better.
Then gave it to the powdercoaters to blast and powdercoat black to give it some extra protection.

Did you test your brake servo to make sure it still worked and held vacuum before painting it up? Mine looked like yours...

I only ask because when i took mine off and tested it with the Dyson in the kitchen, it pissed air where it shouldn't. I decided to abandon it and treat myself to a new one. Now that the car is back together again, and being driven, i can honestly say it's clear to me now that i've never had vacuum assistance on my brakes my entire ownership....until now.

I've let a couple of other seasoned DeLorean drivers test out my car, and they've been amazed too. They're now thinking that they're the same as me, and never had vacuum assistance either, and at least one of them admitted that he's now going to pay more attention to getting that sorted on his car. "feels like a new car's brakes do!" and such other statements were being thrown around. Very light to get the car to stop now. No more Popeye's right leg to stop at the lights etc. Well worth assessing and sorting out or replacing.

I need to completely agree with Rizzy on the servo, i have the same story, looked like crap and thought it's just the outside and should still work, no, if anybody thinks their brakes are rubbish i think you need to start with the servo,
throw it and get a new one!

Yes will be powdercoating it mec for sure. The powdercoater requested me to tap the holes first.
He says tapping after will risk breaking the seal of the powder ? . He has the plugs to protect the female threads so I won't have to go through it again at least .
I'm I'm the middle of re tapping the threads at the moment.

Thanks Gary and rissy, I was reading that post before about testing the servo unit. It s a very good point to check.
I have tested it like you described and it passed thankfully, could not hear any hissing.

I will re do the test again later with my vac pressure test kit just to make sure there are no leaks.
I loaned it to a mate and have to get it back off him.

My biggest issue was slightly spongy pedal feel, but seeing as the hard line supply was virtually rusted out that might explain alot lol.

Was sorting through some of the smaller bits of bracketry and similar to see what can be saved or need replacing and had a closer look at the coolant bracket support clamps for one of the coolant tubes.

It's mad the way the 2 dissimilar metals reacted to each other. I know It's basic corrison science stuff but to see how the aluminium 'gave in' to the steel is a real reminder

I think originally there would have been an insulating foam or something to stop the 2 metal touching? so will have to sort that when it comes to refitting..
