It's been a while since my last update
Anyways things took longer to get sorted with the re tapping of the chassis. Had to practice on some holes first to get confidence up but managed to get through them all eventully.
I did manage to break an m8 tap while doing one of the trailing arm bracket holes, thought I was buggered but thankfully there was just enough gap to get a needle nose onto the broken end and unwind it back out.
Some of the holes were challenging especially the inside of the center housing tunnel brackets for accumulator etc. Found that the tap handle tool was rather bulky and not getting a free turn in alot of the holes cause of its bulkyness.
managed to get my hands on some flexible extensions and a tap socket holder set which made things alot easier.
The upper rear link arms 1/2" 20tpi threads were left to last and caused me another type of headache. The tap tool handles wouldn't turn on the tight space again and the tap socket was too wide to go through the guide hole. So was only able to thread the first 1/3 of the hole.
In the end I found a deep narrow 1/4" socket set I had and found the 9mm socket fitted very snugly on the end of the tap and also through the pilot hole to allow the tap to go all the way into the hole cavity as needed .
It was tight but not enough to stop it spinning while overcoming the resistance of creating the threads.
So got my mate at work to weld the tap the socket and it worked!.
Fianlly all the threads were done!
That tool is in now in my permanent specialty delorean tool section lol!
