And so i will walk through the valley of death....

Hopefully i now have everything i could need whilst im in there. Im sure some will point out im missing something. I have mike ward approved spark plugs en route and already have the appropriate HT leads. The air intake O rings/gasket kit obtained as well as an agony pipe O ring and the ones under the Y pipe (which im hoping i wont have to disturb but you never know). I will be replacing the bolts for new too. Also went with silicone hoses for the back of the water pump and will very likely just change that heater pipe careless of the originals condition.

Of course the whole reason for going in there is to just change the distributor cap/rotar arm area buts its probably overdue to check the VOD anyway. No idea if the PO ever went in there and i know i never have.

A few other little bits and pieces bought too. Easy fixes so if ever i get frustrated i can change some LEDs and feel like ive accomplished something

The wiring diagram will need laminating too.

I have to admit, im not really looking forward to this but im sure i will be fine considering some of the jobs ive already done. Ive been soaking the bolts for a couple of days to help prevent snapping too and will take my time with those. Thats one scenario i dont want here.

best treatment for the aluminium parts is a yearly application of ACF-50 ;)

As it appeared after removing the Y and heater pipe and drained the overflow of coolant...

The parts will get a cleanup also. Ive already given the horn and air intake a spruse up and they wont need a coat of paint...

Now the whole reason for going in there. The distributor cap and i now know why i was occasionally getting starting issues. One of the clips has broken. Still, i will be changing the cap and rotar arm since ive gone to the hassle of all this.

Yeah, you don't want to paint those. Ask Miles ;)

I actually dont see the need for any of the parts to be painted. A clean will suffice. Theyll only get dirty again

I think it was actually leaking, not by much but yeah, i think youre right.

Thankfully arran has some clips so ive just bought them and will replace both. Tomorrow will just see the cleaning continue. I think ive been rather lucky and fortunate with this car considering i bought blind from bhcc
