Minor miscalculation with the dremel there, but it can be fixed (even if it is a bit of a hack job and means drilling/soldering onto the boards).

Judging by the looks of the lamp post, it looks like it was taken in narnia. Early autumn i would say ;)

Got to the garage yesterday and found the first surprise, a puddle of what seems to be coolant under the gearbox:

Been talking to Mike Ward about this, he made me check a few places (engine, around the pulley and in the VOD to make sure that was dry and it seems to be pretty much dry. He mentioned the issue here could be the heater valve.

Also (and I partly knew about this), my car's fans are constantly going, the seller had bypassed the otterstat (probably broken) to avoid overheating. That said, I discovered the otterstat cables have been cut off on the opposite side (not on where the female connectors are) and just joined there, which makes no sense.... also the otterstat itself is not secured at all with clamp or cable ties....

Any insight on this would be much appreciated!

Bin the otterstat and get this https://www.deloreango.com/us/new-style ... rstat.html

Then never worry about it again. My car went through loads of the things.

Not sure where the leak could be coming from but i would hazard a guess that mike is correct it coming from the heater valve.

When i got my car the fans were also bypassed. Thankfully they werent butchered. I changed my otterstat and its been fine and i carry a spare in the car since theyre cheap. I would agree to get the screw in upgrade one but i dont think it matters too much if you decide to do the fan override switch mod which i did (highly recommend getting that done. Its been great to be able to turn the fans on when i want especially whilst in heavy/slow traffic).

This is what my otterstat looked like when i removed it. Im guessing that since it stopped doing its actual job the PO decided to just bypass

I wonder if its just a hose clip that needs tightening? Either way, once youve sorted the leak i would advise a complete coolant change. Also do an oil change too along with the filters.
