Re: VIN #2307 ROCKER COVER SWAP - FAIL

I pulled the rocker cover to swap them over to remove the Volvo pump. Interesting pictures below showing the internals of Delorean v the Volvo Rockers and Springs.

My issue is that the Delorean cover is not as deep and is fouling on the Rockers on the Volvo engine. I am sure i have heard of this some before.

I am thinking of making a cover plate for the removal of the pump instead of grinding it out and risking a foul. Anyone else had this issue?

Thats a strange one. I have worked on quite a few Volvo versions of this engine and never seen one with those chunky rockers. What year is the car that came out of?

I have also ran one with a blanking plate over where the pump mounts as well. Just an ally plate cut to size and sealed on with high temp silicon.

The Engine is from a 1987 Volvo 760. I will do the same with a blanking plate.

Am I going mad or do I have two extra hoses above where the auto gearbox sits in the car. I have not had chance to see where they go but they could have been in series with the normal trans cooler which I already removed with its hoses. Car was sold in LA originally?

I circled them in red on the picky below. Any thoughts? (The dark oil in the drain bowl is not related)

You have indeed, I just went out to have a look at mine as I can see that area clearly and on the left of your picture the round hole through the chassis I only have the larger hose which is squirreling off to the left... The two coming down to your oil pan (nice posh one that btw), aren't there.

What did it connect to ?

Your left trans axle looks like Frankenstein's monster what's with the bolts/caps on the side ?

This is the in-line trans cooler and fittings. It will be later in the week before I can trace where those lines go!

Darrenre - was that an EFI engine if it was an 87 car then? Think it's B280 as opposed to B28 - could explain the differences.

No - it is very much a B28E, but pretty much one of the last ones.

Ha ha nice one Darren, I did exactly the same thing with some parts off my RS2000. I couldn’t get rid of the smell of engine oil for months
