Hi All,

For those who don't know Nigel Mills, he not only owns one of the 3 factory right handers, he also has a rather nice yellow monster sporting a rather spiffing number plate...

I'm not sure the DeLorean will have a look-in, but I'll be tuning in anyway!

Yes this all came up on dmctalk a while back... someone found those youtube clips of the garage, posted a comment querying the factory right hander claim underneath and N1gel made quite a harsh reply that then triggered a whole thread.

If you find that thread it'll explain it better than I can, but it would appear that there is some evidence (but not conclusive evidence) that some (or maybe just 1, I can't remember) RHD cars were finished at the factory.

Hi

Cant seem to find the thread anywhere Jez?

Bozzy did pose the question to Nick Sutton, who said that no RHD were ever produced in the factory.

"All of them were converted by Wooler Hodec non at the factory or Lotus.WE didn't have the facilities/time or knowlege to do this in house.

Hope this clarifies..
regards

Nick "

Im actually very interested to know what is classed as a factory right hander.

To my knowledge all 'factory authorised' conversions at the time were done at Wooler Hodec facility... with only minor trim bits added back at DMC.

Yes Al your correct both Nick Sutton and Neal Barclay have said there were no RHD conversions work done at the DMC factory.... but if anyone has any evidence to the contary then it would be great to see it and put this right.

I will try and find the origional thread on DMC talk .

Here it is - to be fair I'm not surprised a search wouldn't have found it given the thread title!

I searched for 'RHD' !

As someone else points out in the thread, that search term proves fruitless.

I also remember Alistair McCann telling me of someone who worked at the factory who attended the NEC one year and did attempt to set the record straight but got nowhere..I cant remember the guys name.

Also I think Nick Sutton was there until near the end.

"I was employed by DMC Belfast for just over four years and only one of a handful of employees to have achieved the four year milestone. Starting December 1978 and finishing January 1983.My job as Purchasing Manager was to procure the parts designed by Lotus and to undertake the daily relationship with Lotus and the DMC supply base. Initially also procuring the basics for the Belfast DeLorean facility and the early commitments on specialist equipment to be used in the factory. My employment after Receivership (February 1982) was to assist in any possible rescue plan and the supply base. "
