Knackered Steering Wheel

Just seen my trimmer chap redo a Porshe steering wheel and it looks fab, I'd quite like to get a core-charge style system going for recovering wheels, I'm eventually going to have mine done in grey and black leather so it better matches my interior but I rather start with a knackered wheel and mine was only recovered recently.

Anyone have a knackered wheel they'd like to part with.

I have one which you are welcome to in exchange for one re-trim (in other words, I'll send you two, you send me one back re-trimmed). How does that sound?

That sounds like a plan, I'm going to have to see if I can wangle a deal on the 1st one I get done, I don't know how much people would be prepared to pay for a retrimmed wheel it might not be cost effective.

Thanks for the offer Martin, I'll get some pricing off the chap and see if it is a goer then come back to you.

Well I had a quick chat with him and he charges about £130 per wheel, but he said if its simpler than the porshe one that he was doing then it may be a little cheaper.

I know when I had mine originally recovered a freind of a freind did it for £85 IIRC, he was actually a sail maker, he's since emigrated which is a shame.

I might shop around, I have a few other contacts, but I have no idea what people would expect/be happy to pay, I know a new wheel from DMCH is around £200 shipping

Opinions?

I had one done for a customer some time back using a local firm with a wide reputation (and hundred grand Bentleys in the shop). It was £220 but the result was utterly gorgeous and I know the owner still loves it, even through it was pricey.
