Can anyone point to me a place that sells the motor at a reasonable price?
Or do i need to bite the bullet and pay stupid 'o' cash from Ed?

The "official" place to get motors from is on here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=21 - direct link: http://www.a1electric.com/catalog/cat_delorean.htm - but this is in the USA, and there will be VAT to pay on this, as well as shipping. The website is a bit rubbish, in that you can't select "UK" as a destination, and it won't let you order just one side, but an email will sort that.
Other than that, or Ed, you'll have to get lucky to find one over here.

Won't take long at all. Up to a week max. Also - if you are speaking to Ricky - try and get him to lower the customs value, and/or mark as a gift ;)

Great advice as always!
Thanks Guys.

8 hours behind, so I will be ringing them at 6pm today.

Is it worth buying 2 or 3 sets to resell?

We did exactly that, but smuggled them into the country in a suitcase: viewtopic.php?f=113&t=2563 - if you get too much stuff, you'll end up more likely to pay more tax - but all depends how they are marked up. There is certainly a market for them over here.

I will speak to Ricky and see how many he can pack in a nice small box!

FYI, they only supply the whole assembly (Motor, gearbox and track - as in the photos on the other thread) so they take up quite a bit of space. Not a problem in a suitcase, but it makes a packing box disproportionately large for the weight.

Size isn't important - it's what it says on that customs label! ;)

VAT (20%) is charged on the FULL amount including shipping
Import duty is 2.6% if the total value (including shipping) is over £135. But is only charged if it is at least £9 (So up to £346 is ok)

Gift rules are - the total value has to be under £36, and has to be sent from/to a private individual.
