Motor Factors, where did it all go so wrong?

For anything else not specifically DeLorean related....

Movie?

I think we're living it Jez.

Now I know why the screw drivers are locked in the glass cupboard at Halfords.......just so I don't stab the staff in the neck with them out of frustration.

And another thing......

Took Adam to Hobbycraft (large art's, craft and toy superstore)

He was refused at the till buying a "paint by numbers" (age 8 years and up)

Because you need to be 18 by law to buy paint!

He also had an airfix model, but couldn't buy the glue to go with it for the same reason.

I had a similar experience Darren, I was doing a job on my sons car, who was at the time 19, sent him to B&Q for some Evo Stick & they would'nt sell it him 'cos he was'nt 21!!
You are legally allowed to drive, be married, have a mortgage & be a home owner, but can't buy any glue.
It's crackers.

Oh yeh & while you've got me started, the other one I had was in Tesco.
I went in with my daughter & her friend, who were 14 or so at the time. Got to the till with my stuff, which included 2 bottles of wine, the pikelet (or crumpet if you prefer) faced kid on the till says to me, 'have they got ID', I say course not, their only 14, sorry, can't sell you the wine then.
Pricks, the lot of 'em

You'll do well to find a mechanic at any garage these days, they've been replaced with 'Fitters'

A 'Fitter' is a young oik who thinks they are a mechanic because they once changed a lightbulb on their mates car without referring to an instruction manual.
These people 'fix' things by replacing parts until the problem goes away and then charging for every part they touched.

A 'Mechanic' somone generally older than a fitter, usually with excessive fascial hair who is not affraid to take a lung full of exhaust fumes in order to analyse the condition of an engine.
They generally use methodicall approach to identifying problems and replace or repair only the offending part.

As I was reading that Darren, it reminded me of the Cheese Shop sketch, but by the end, it merited an entire Python sketch by itself. :D

And for my comedic purchasing experience, with tyres (honestly word for word):

Phone conversation with local dealer:

Me: Do you have any 195/60 R14 tires in stock?
Him: What car are they off?
Me: An 81 Delorean
Him: Are you sure?
Me: Yes, I’m sure
Him: How do you know the size? Is it from the nameplate on the door?
Me: No, it’s from the tire sitting in front of me. There is no nameplate.
Him: That size can’t be right. Are they original tires and rims?
Me: They are original rims, but not original tires.
Him: Well then, the tires may be an incorrect size. The tires should be bigger than that. We’ll have to get you to sign a waiver to use a non standard size.
Me: Whatever. The tires at the back are 235s, but the fronts are 195s. Do you have any in stock?
Him: What speed rating?
Me: I don’t know. The car is not going to be going over 90 mph if that helps.
Him: Well, you’ll need to sign a waiver if you are installing a tire that has a different speed rating…….

He finally gives me a couple of options.

Me: How much is the installation fee?
Him: Well there’s $5 mounting, $2 valve stem, $1.50 disposal, $1 something else, $1 another thing (don’t remember)
Me: So how much is that in total?
Him: It’s $5 mounting, $2 valve stem, $1.50 disposal, $1 something else, $1 another thing (don’t remember)
Me: OK then.

My head hurts now.
