Finally managed to get the second nut on the new door handle. Problem was that the flange of the door is too close to the bolt, so any socket extension you throw at it will not fit and the nut will come up at a slightly wrong angle. I am talking about the bolt towards the rear of the car. I finally decided to remove the black bracket/window retainer and wiggle my hand in. By using a small but long screwdriver through the nut i managed to keep the nut from falling into the door - a real annoyance - and with my fingers I got the nut to catch the thread. Pfew.

Scary bits...

I just spend a couple of minutes under my car. I was trying to find the connections to the slave cylinder in preparation of changing the new clutch line (not yet ordered). I found that there was a metal line going from the slave instead of a plastic one. I didn't raise the car so I couldn't see properly..

I also noticed quite a bit of oil hanging on the bottom of the transmission, and oh my VOD is wet with a oily/watery goo liquid.

I SO want to remove that air intake and clean out that VOD to see everything properly..

Oh dear Rob that could either be a leak in the valley or something more sinister like corroded block
You need to get that intake manifold off asap and have a look in there ate you losing coolant?

Crap. I was just about to go to sleep like a baby and now you got me worried big time.

EDIT:

No I am not loosing coolant (visual inspection only) and I am not loosing oil in a dramatic way. Last weekend i went to Ed's and back without any difficulties or any major loss of fluids. I didn't rain either on the trip. The VOD is not 'soaked' but there definitely was a small puddle of some sorts (no fuel!). I noticed the wet by looking over the engine with a torch behind the fuel distributor/slave clutch area. I dried it a bit with a cloth wrapped around a screwdriver to smell the fluids.
