Problems;

- Sidelights- I have the Hella's with the extra sidelight bulbs. Where do I take the power for them?
- Headlights- Since I mounted the tail light boards the headlight switch does not operate. Any ideas?
- Horns- Decide to work and not work of their own accord. Make a clunk noise when the button is pressed and they don't want to work but not sure why.
- Track Rod End- Threads damaged today so can't get nut on. Will need replaced.
- Washer motor- The one I removed was threaded into the tank, how do I refit my spares which are not. I have a Halfords and another equivalent from an Austin or something.

MOT which is booked for Thursday but if I can get a cancellation and the above is sorted I will. If tomorrow is dry the car will get its maiden voyage to bed in new brake pads.

Talk about last minute there Matt!

We stock track rod ends - next day delivery: http://www.deloreanclub.co.uk/parts/suspension.htm

I have had both a Halfords and the Austin Ambassador cross matched one - assuming it's going in that box it doesn't really matter how you attach it I think? Either way a better alternative in the future is to fit an inline one if you want it to still work next year! ;)

Sidelights from a USA fresh car - you would take power from the orange lights underneath them or the side repeaters I assume - these are running lights in a USA car, which is position 1 on the headlight switch.

Horns themselves could be knackered (they can fill up with water if angled up?, and knacker out) - obviously try a direct contact to the battery. If that works you're half way there - if it doesn't then get one of Mec's horns! (well - don't! - you need a continuous tone to pass an MOT) - Otherwise there are plenty of ways to fake it, e.g. a 9v battery powered motorbike horn.

Good luck Matt! 8-) :dmcdoors: 8-)

Didn't you have a problem with track rod ends on your other DeLorean? Just before MOT

You might need to borrow a set of horns off Keith!

Well remembered Al! Yes I only noticed the boots ripped the night before MOT and Keith gave me his at 6:30am on the morning of the test.

Thomas is calling with a track rod end and air horns, so just need to sort the rest of the niggles out today and try for a cancellation tomorrow or Tuesday to make sure The car makes the weekend

Just a quick one. If you disconnect the tail lights do the headlamps now work?
If it does then you could have a short or maybe wiring fault at the board itself.
Re attach just 1 tail light board and re try to narrow it down.
Has the board had any diodes added and tracks cut to add the fog lamp brake inboard mod?

Horn, remove horn and try it direct to a battery. If it flunks it is duff.

Washer motor, if time is short how about trying some silicon sealant or rubber bung like on an astra washer bottle unless you can get a direct fit spare?

OK today so far

- New track rod end fitted
- Came out this morning and horns worked first time. Think it was a battery issue???
- The car is now in the drive, with the Jag now in the garage but it struggled to reverse up the hill. I hope this is a power issue due to engine timing instead of the gearbox. Fairly sure it is as after retarding the timing it was a bit better.
- The headlights were fine before tail light boards fitted. The brake lights, reverse lights and indicators all work but the headlight switch won't even light.

In for dinner now but will be back at it shortly.
