Power Steering

Postby ed uding » Sun Jan 15, 2012 10:28 am

I like to share the new power steering unit we have.
It is a speed relate set, that start form 0 mile with max assist, and build it off to 40 mile. Thane it is all back to original. There is a special pick up adaptor between the Speedo cables, to get the right pulls to the computer. If you loos power the car work like a stock Delorean, the axe is still one piece. And the column can still be adjust in height and slide still in and out. On 31 December we did have a public test day in The Netherlands. I know the comment that we don’t neat it, but as soon you drive it you know better, it make a car a lot easier to drive in town.
The set will be for sale in the us as well.

The purists won't be happy with this one Ed-you're attempting to bring the DMC into the modern age! I personally don't mind having arms like Popeye the sailor man after doing a few 3 point (or 8 point) turns after getting lost occasionally.......good work tho'! 8-)

Power steering on a Delorean

Completely un-necessary.

You should try driving a pre-war car Ed....Then you'd appreciate how light and easy a Delorean is to steer without power assist.

Probably ok if your over 70 years old or have only one arm. ;)

Needed or not, I applaud the work Ed is doing on improving the DeLorean. Even though the purists dislike power steering, there are a lot of owner who dislike the hard steering. Cheers, Ed!

You should know me better than that. I've always said there's no need on power steering on a D. I am just supporting Ed's efforts.

Pick a better one next time. :D

I think it's a nice idea and I would love to have a go in a car with this installed.

Don't forget to tell the insurance company about this modification if fitted!

Is there any MOT issue with mods to the steering?
