Had to laugh at this bit:

'it was fast as hell with the giant Ford engine'

1.57 metric tonnes with 351cu 175Hp Windsor V8, hmm. At least mine's a 74 though so that means an AMC 360cu 220Hp :D

Headlights are all back together and mounted back on the car, just waiting on the recon'd radiator and a local fabricator to make me a bracket to mount the air compressor for the doors. I can then get the front all back together and move onto stripping/rebuilding the brake booster/master cylinder.

Oh and you can 'in theory' get out without power, there's a door handle on the inside of each door that releases the latch. You can then remove a 'ring pull' bolt from the ram/door mounting and so long as your names Dr Banner and your REALLY REALLY ANGRY you can open the door.

Finally got the mounting plate from the fabricator so started putting everything back together.

Radiator guys sent me a message saying the recore's done so will try and get that back in this weekend.

I thought it was a winch attached to a coffee can.

Why did I think there was a hydraulic system for the doors? Was than an earlier version?

Originally they all where hydraulic. One of the most common upgrades is to remove this slow unreliable system and replace it with a pneumatic alternative.

My car's been converted to 'Air' at some point in the past however rather than use an electric pump they used a vacuum operated unit. Trouble is with that unit it takes about two hours to fill the air tank!

The new Viair 450C should fill the tank to 120psi in less than 2mins :D

Pics update, picked up the re-cored rad today. Weekend job was removing the brake servo/master cylinder rig, ditching the knack'd old MC and repainting the servo before re-assembling with a shiny new MC.

At some point my cars had all the smog emissions crap removed, not a bad thing, but I've just found the vent pipe from the petrol tank that should be connected to a carbon canister which is also AWOL.

Amazing work there. This isn't so much of a restauration this looks like a rebuild! I'm jealous of the quality of workmanship. I've done a rebuild f my delorean's front suspension but all i can say it still looks old to me, in contrast to the paintwork i see here!

All right, carry on.
