A few bits wanted!

Postby OllieWilks » Wed Feb 06, 2013 10:58 pm

Hi there,

Has anyone got a starter motor and/or alternator they could sell me?
I think I also need two exhaust brackets.

Thanks for looking

Stattet motor looks ok. Verify with seller if it is compatible with the b28 v6 engine.

However I think the club has one in Stock.

The alternator is not powerful enough. I recommend the high output one at least 140 amps.

We do have a starter motor in stock: viewtopic.php?t=2486 - but it is £180 plus postage  - The one on Ebay - is it for a 2.8 litre engine? - but with a bit of research, I'm sure you can find the right one if that isn't it. Renault may be easier to search for. Here is a start: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=260

You could also try Dave Howarth: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=201

As for the alternator, I know Stuart in Banbury was able to get one using this page and his local motor factors: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2213 - the original was 90amps, but yes you want at least 105 or 110 amps - you won't get 140 amps in this country. There are loads of Renault alternators that fit, start with a Renault 25 and go from there. Follow the links on that page.

Thanks all for your help! Much appreciated!
Have spoken to Dave and he has a starter motor and is going to try and locate an alternator as well.
Is there an alternator available through the club if not? I'll keep searching the web as well.

Thanks for the links!

We used to, but not any more. If you follow this link: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2213 - there are a couple of working sources on there. It's not too hard to find one.

Goto a renault dealer and ask for a starter and alternator from a 2.8 V6 Safran.
