i had a mk5 1500 quite a few years ago, i mananged to find some pics ...

I always went for the mk4 as they were tax exempt, I also slightly preferred the interior trim, lack of head rests and thought the switch gear was a little more classic.
I really like the 1.3ltr engine, when it had an electric fan and twin exhaust fitted it was every bit as quick as the 1500, as tested against my friends 1500 down an old little used bit of duel carriageway.

I did some serious road trips around the UK in mine me and a mate put a tent on the boot rack and hit the road, some of the best holidays I've ever had.

Fond memories.

thats what i like about this one, come april next year when they move the tax exempt year foward one it becomes tax exempt! it just creeps in being built dec 73, i think my one has got head rests though ? il have to check, ive just got a twin centre exit exhaust for it and i think the electric fan is a very good idea too ! Mine may end up being my everyday car as ive now left my job to do the knowledge full time now so need the cheapest car running cost wise and this can double as a classic for the shows too :-)
il put some more pics up soon of the little bits ive done

right then over the past 7 months of having the spitfire i havnt made much progress due to lack of time more than anything, jobs that have been done so far have all been stuff that you cant really see, new starter motor, brake master cylinder, rear wheel brake cylinders, cooling system flush and refill etc you get the idea, so over the last couple of weeks i have started doing a few bits that are more visable, heres some pics...

Rear lights have been spray tinted at some point and then flated back which looks crap so need replacing

I'd get so bored of constant cutting and chopping and shaping of rusty metal, I don't know how you have the patience Tony. ....

Hope it's coming together.

The last thing I have done to my d is to remove the crap off and around it. ..

Did you get those carburetors sported out mec?
