Hopefully the vac pipe to the distributor (spark) is removed. If you have the coco great on, set the timing to 10deg btdc.

Adjust the fuel mixture so you get the highest smoothest idle.
Connect a vac lead from the inlet manifold to the single pet on the top of the cpr then do the fuel adjustment again.
Now adjust the throttle so the idle speed comes down to 900.
I'm assuming you removed the idle speed regulator on my previous post. ..

Hi ab. No I still had the vac from the inlet to the distributor manofold connected. Yes. Idle speed reg is disconnected.

So vac pipe to the top of the cpr? ( where the Delo config has a curved open one) Not the side one?

Okay will follow your lead tomorrow to check.

What about the 3 brass air screws before the ram horns?

The delorean and volvo cpr are different and are connected different...

On your car, for now, leave the brass screws fully screwed down (by hand)

set the ignition timing only with the vac line to the timing advance off and plugged. Once the timing is set, reconnect the vac line. ...

Cheers ab! Yes it feels like the bloody lottery jackpot! Mainly because the engine was completely overhauled and assembled by my self (first timer). When that thing ignited on the first tick over of the key I was taken by surprise.

I owe you a couple cold ones for your time and patience mate. Already on my tap on March;)

.......What sounded weird is after turning it off it made noises like the pipes were relaxing after the tension........

I've just noticed your text here. If it's the sound like a heartbeat from the fuel distributor and a binging sound from the accumulator, this is the fuel system pressure depressurising through the primary pressure valve in the fuel distributor (via the 16mm bolt facing you on the fuel distributor. You will likely have to replace the o rings if this is the case. See the pic in the above link. .

Actually ab k got that sound only from the accumulator when I shorted the fuel pump fro over 2 minutes the first time.

I got that sound again today while checking the injectors, as the accumulator was depressurization again. I no sounds from the metering head.

See if you get the sound after the engine has run for a minute then just turned off (and the fuel pump stopped). If it does then change the o ring (or rarely the check valve in the fuel pump). Personally I'd change the o rings as a matter if course as they are cheap.
The accumulator stores a reserve of fuel for acceleration and keeps the fuel system under pressure.
I look forward to the cold ones ;)

VIN 5992 - The Monarch in Greece & restoration

Postby ALEXAKOS » Tue Nov 04, 2014 6:49 pm

Electrical question,
After a few minutes on the battery power i smelled like overheating cables.

Looking closely this was buzzing slightly and was hot.
Can you spot a mistake on the wiring that gulf create a short.,?

Image

Is it an issue that I connected two ground wirings on the lower bolt? Those were mounted on the bracket behind it but because I powder coated it ist not s good ground any more.
