maybe galv is the way to go then... ive just had bad experiences with it although the frame is a fairly sturdy structure it could be worth it. :) if I go down the paint route I will certainly be getting it blasted :) hoping to get the engine and gearbox out this weekend, mr tom reddaway seems to be a man in the know regarding this! :)

engine and gearbox are out. all pipework is off frame, just need to remove fuel accumulator, brake lines, brakes and wheels the il be plAting it in, welding up and the sending off for galvanise, which seems to be the popular thing to do

If you haven't photographed it... It didn't happen!!! ;)

Sounds nice. Give us some visuals.

My photo sharing also hoped me avoid errors from members noticing things;)

someone please explain how I can post photos as I have thousands of them.
car is now stripped right down chassis is naked. front end is billy cotton so that will need replacing including the cross member its non existant in places and the suspension arms need plating it. this part im tackling my self im fabricating a new front end, the having it acid dipped then galvanised.
does anyone know anywhere in Norfolk where I can get this acid dipped as im struggling :(
also my auto box had an issue when it ran I think mr carl Hammond ( legend) posted it in this thread for me. I either need this rebuilt or a new box OR I convert it to manual but id rather stay original as I want to keep the car. any suggestions? I hear you have to alter the chassis for manual conversion... ideally id like a new box but that depends on how much a rebuild would be in comparioson to replacing.
any help would be great, thanks!!!!!!

Press "post reply", then "upload attachment" then "choose file", the rest should be straightforward

For the manual conversion you only need to alter the frame where the shifter would go.

But you also need a rake of parts that might be hard/costly to get - Pedal box, manual shifter, manual gearbox mounts, the gearbox itself (becoming pricey these days I think), clutch hydraulics, clutch etc

My car had this conversion done over 10 years ago when my auto box went kaput. Although if I was doing it again I'd probably keep it auto as I drove one recently and thought it really suited the car.

Not sure there are any acid dippers in Norfolk that specialise in car chassis - I took mine to Dudley from Essex to get it done.
