3.89 final drive?

Postby dustybarn » Mon Oct 05, 2015 1:57 am

I've always felt the gearing in my Delorean to be a little long-legged. Now, I've noticed that the 369/UN1 also appeared with other final drive ratios, including 3.89 vs. the stock 3.44. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with the shorter ratio in a Delorean?

I know I'm drifting slightly off topic, but the UN1 was originally designed by Renaults as front wheel drive trans axle gearbox, so your probably find for the Delorean and Lotus applications that the Differential is 180 degree's out as well

I had a different ratio manual box from a Renault turbo, fitted in 11766

That's true - I have read that it was intentionally designed so that it could be assembled with the crownwheel on either side, for fwd/mid engine or for rwd/rear engine applications.
