Finally after ages i think it came up pretty ok, not as new but a whole lot better. Tried cleaning it with apc, cif, and a whole lot of other mild ish stuff and nothing worked it wasnt shifting.
I then remembered the previous owner said he used grey shoe polish to redye it and the rear speaker panels ( more on that later ).. so i treated it like a paint job and used t cut on a drill at low to medium speed with a home made microfibre pad cut to shape and size on a velcro 4 inch pad and basically buffed it out with lots of t cut.

It worked to my suprise! so after all that gave it some autoglym vinyl and plastic protector to try and keep it that way. Man was my arm and wrist gone after that

The rear speaker panel was as bad as the trim board, it had splitting and very dried out vinyl edging so decided to get lee pattison to work his magic on it

I forgot to take more pics so only have this from before , but again different shades of grey all over the place

It came back absolutely amazing , lee s work is top drawer , and a gent to deal with.
it has that 1981 smell of leather and vinyl again makes such a difference, and will hopefully really finish off the interior when its finally back together :D

After reffitting of the carpets to see how they looked i didnt realise the color had so faded off over the years. The grey i was used to seeing was not the original color. The bits underneath the center housing tunnel that werent exposed to the sun really stood out . The contrast was stark

As the oem carpet set has only partial availabilty i looked around and found a company that professionally redyes carpets to bring them back to life . After discussing the idea with him ,decided to go ahead and get them done. So pulled out the carpets boxed them up ppsted them

You can really see t

After.. not brand new like but dam close for me. They smell lovely to washed and cleaned as part of the service. The dye is guaranteed to last and not fade , and the pile feels factory no sticky residue.
As you can see the original grey has a blue hue to it more than i ever thought or knew .
But with it test fitted back in the interior i feel a nigjt and day differnece.
My carpet was particulary worn/faded in places but the better the carpet overall conditon the better the overall product will be .
