CAT Bypass Pipe

I'm looking to remove the CAT on 10719 and put in a bypass pipe. Question is where do I get one of these? DMC europe used to do them, but no longer it would seem. Any ideas?

Oh, and will removing the CAT cause any problems with the MOT. I know it will release some much needed horses, plus improve the sounds of the exhaust, which will be a a plus Anyone done this?

On a side note my car has the original CAT and heat shield. Maybe someone might be interested in those or a swap?

I've got a cat bypass. Never had a problem with not having one for the mot!

Did you manage to source a bypass pipe and gasket? If so where from and how much?
I am thinking of doing the same to vin 3320.
Does anyone have any comments about effects on mpg and hp?

Love to hear some thoughts.

To save your eyes bleeding and your brains exploding this is what you need to know.

Section 7.1, note 3:

“on vehicles that qualify for a full CAT emissions test, check for the presence of a Catalytic converter”

The key words here are “that qualify for a full CAT emissions test”

Refer to:

Section 7.3, page 2, para 4:

“Early catalyst equipped vehicles may not require a CAT test.”

Ok still with me….

Section 7.3, page 4, sub section “CAT Test” para 1:

“The catalyst test is part of MOT test for most spark ignition petrol engined vehicles first used on or after 1st August 1992.”


Eureka.

Delorean before 01/08/1992 = No CAT Test.
Delorean does not qualify for CAT emissions test, therefore presence of CAT is not part of check.

I am going to a place to get a bypass for my cat made tomorrow. I will let you know what the company say and the price. For those that are interested.

i'd be very interested. There was talk on the other forum of getting one made. I was going to take my car over but its not taxed yet (plus half the engine is out of it while I sort the VOD).

So cat bypass pipe made and installed tonight.
The company take the existing cat and put it in a jig, they then cut out the cat and weld in stainless pipe. They also replaced the studs with bolts which was needed as all the original studs sheered off when removing.
The cost was a bit steep £120 cash, but i did keep the cat and will get some money back when i scrap it.
The pipe fitted fine and the exhaust went back on smoothly.
Power improvement is hard to tell in the short journey completed but it does feel better.

If anyone wants to do the same with their cat, i am sure that any custom exhaust centre can do the same. Problem is getting the cat out and getting it to them! However pm me if you want to use the same company, i will be happy to pass on their details.
