Hey guys

Sorry for the non-D post, but (in order to help the D :lol: ) my very nice Scimitar has to go.

So I just thought I'd post up here, in case anyone was interested? Or knows someone who likes British plastic? (Galvanised too...)

Looks like a nice one! What's it like to drive compared to the D? In which ways better/worse?

I bought a Scimitar SE5a this morning :shock: (see scimitarweb for sale section)

Jeeeez hows that for missing out by hours, I'd have certainly bought yours.

Hi guys,

Darren, given your new-found fame :lol: maybe I could get you sign inside the doors or something??! :D

Jez, its actually pretty good on the road, similar to the D in a lot of ways. Not the best round town with a long flat bonnet and quite wide, with the turning circle of a barge. A factory galv chassis on this one, which (as you will know Jez) is a boon for the year round classic! Especially when the rest is plastic.

Its lovely as a big motorway cruiser. I have been london-glasgow in it many times, and I have on occaision have done it non stop. As long as I dont need a piss, the fuel tank is good for 600 miles :o MPG and performance are about the same as the D.

Tho trying to sell an executive car in 1986 with trunnion front suspension and a 4speed OD box is just so British that it makes you wonder how the industry lasted so long.

(Weak front end. Theres a similarlity to the D!)

Comfy, pretty good handling, fully adjustable shocks etc. Doesn't overheat if maintained, and can be (this one is) reliable. And when I put a new bathroom in, you can fold the seats down and get your new bath in the back. And the tiles, timber, adhesive, bog etc. Not so with the a D!!

Like a D, bad ones are total pigs, and utter money pits!

Classic lines tho, very "of an era". I will miss it, but it must go. :cry: It has been great for me, and I whould never/ could never have bought the D without getting the confidence that having this has taught me.

Everyone said "Why did you buy that, it'll be nothing but trouble". Just like a D.

But they were right with the D!! :lol: (But I'm keeping it)

To be fair I was shocked they included me, They filmed so much stuff with everyone, I hardly expected to be seen let alone air my opinion. It was a tea spitting out surprise, but a nice one nevertheless.
Just remember to vote for me in next years reality TV Bafta's ;)

Good luck with the Scimitar sale, its a great car you have there. I'd advise any one on here who's considering another classic to buy yours.
I bought the SE5 literally 3 hours before you posted yours for sale, but its a 1 owner car from new with 39K miles and absolutely mint in Shetland (Donald Campbell Bluebird Blue), so all in all I'm very, very pleased to find such a rare thing. Trouble is I gotta build another garage now :lol:
